How to Change or Replace a Roof Tile?

Is the roof of your house composed of tiles? Have you noticed that one of the tiles is broken and you need to replace them? We tell you how to change them.

The passage of time and climatic conditions considerably affect the state of the tiles, sometimes causing the rupture or wear of them. For this reason, it is very important to be aware of its maintenance and if it is necessary to replace them. Here are some tips by professional roofing services in Thurrock for you.

1. Check The Type Of Tile

Before starting to change the tiles, you must know the type of tile that your house has, since there are two types: concrete and terracotta tiles. If you are not sure of the type, you have, it is best to approach a specialised store with a sample of your tile so you can buy the right one.

2. Go Up To The Roof

With the help of a ladder, you must climb to the roof safely to make the change. In this step, you must ensure the stability of the ladder and that you feel safe being up. In addition, you should be careful not to break the rest of tiles with your weight. What you have to do is step between two tiles to distribute your weight, the arch of your foot must match the gap that the two pieces make.

3. Remove The Broken Tile

When you find yourself in the place of the broken tile, you must remove it by slightly raising the others that are on top. It is important that when you remove it, you do it in the same direction as the others, so you avoid any leakage.

4. Place The Replacement Tile

Once the broken piece is removed, you must place the replacement tile. To make it more fixed and secure you can apply a little cement or adhesive putty. In this case, you also have the option of placing it without any adherent product. Remember to put in place the tiles that were superimposed.

5. Check The Result

When you have finished placing the pieces in their place, you can check that they are well located and you do not have any leaks. Pour some water on the roof and check that there is no leaking inside the house. If everything went well and there is no problem, then your roof will be ready.
If after reading these steps you do not see yourself capable of doing it on your own. We put you in touch with the best professional roofing and roofing. And if, in addition, you plan to carry out some work or rehabilitation of your facade, then contact an expert in vertical works.

Tie Your Scaffolding Correctly: Tips For Good Anchoring Of Facade Scaffolding

After analysing in our first two weeks the need to use an appropriate safety footwear and the prevention of accidents encouraging the wearing of high visibility garments correctly, for today we have prepared an analysis on the correct anchorage and anchorage of scaffolds to the facade.
Let's go by parts. The first thing we must do, during the assembly process of the scaffolding and roofing in Essex, is to fix the place where we are going to tie the structure. Logically, and also for regulatory issues, we cannot carry out the anchoring on any element that does not correspond to the facade's own structure. The reason for this is to eliminate any possibility of the scaffold suffering any movement since it is not 100% stable on its own. Now, the mooring will be done in the following way: once the mooring arrangement has been analysed, we must drill a hole in the structure, trying to damage as little as possible the material of which it is composed.
Once we have made our mooring point, what we will do is introduce a nylon block 14 ⌀ (diameter), on which we will fix the eyebolt that will be attached to a hooked tube on which the scaffold will finally be fixed through a bridle A rough way, this is the way to anchor the scaffolding to a structure, but also, technically, we must take into account a series of essential requirements without which we will not carry out the process correctly:

  • We must mount the moorings evenly distributed along the entire scaffolding facade.
  • At the last level of the scaffolding, it is important to place moorings on all the uprights.
  • We recommend placing scaffolding fixators on the vertical strut, and when it is not possible to place them as close as we can.
  • For scaffolding up to 25 meters high without any type of coating, usually, a mooring is required in every 24 square meters. In the event that the scaffold is covered with a wind-permeable network, the ties must be placed every 12 square meters.
  • For scaffolding with heights greater than 25 meters or for denser coatings, it is necessary to perform specific calculations.
  • Finally, remember that the diagonals must be placed in 4 scaffolding modules.

7 Tricks To Decorate The Kitchen

On average we spend 3,500 euros on the kitchen furniture. They are the ones we invest the most. Take note of these simple tricks to decorate your kitchen.

Small Kitchens

In this case of a quality kitchens in Thurrock, lighting is particularly important. Therefore, it is best to install a general light in the center (better fluorescent). In this way, it gives the feeling that the kitchen is bigger. If it is wide, place several points of light.

What Colour To Choose

If your kitchen is integrated into the living room and is not very large, it is better to have the same colours between the two spaces to gain visual amplitude in this way. But if space is not a problem, you can highlight the kitchen area using bright colours, not only on the walls but also in the furniture. Dare, for example, with orange, red or green.

Folding Furniture

Folding furniture is the best solution to today's kitchens, usually fairly in size. The folding chairs and tables, besides being very practical, are beautiful and you can find them at very affordable prices. Before buying them, check that they can be stacked without problems. The rest of the furniture choose them with the maximum use.

Practical And Functional

When making the distribution, remember that the kitchen must be practical and functional first. The cooking, storage and handling areas of food must be arranged in a triangle. In this way, you will facilitate your work and save you too many trips.

To Eat

The comfort of eating in the kitchen is undoubted. And it is not necessary to have too much space either. Only a good distribution and adequate furniture are needed. If you want, you can convert a counter-top 40 centimetres deep in a casual dining room for daily use. It is very practical.

A Different Wall

The walls entirely tiled to the ceiling have gone down in history. You can choose to trowel half and then paint it, paint only one wall of another colour, put the material of the top on the wall, or even by panelling behind the glass-ceramic.

Everything By Hand

Plastic or metal boxes and wicker baskets are perfect for maintaining order in the kitchen. You can keep bills, small utensils or even kitchen towels.

Tips To Maintain Electrical Safety In Your Home And Your Neighbourhood Community

Keeping residential electrical installations in perfect condition can become a valuable prevention tool. One should always know how to resolve electrical installation damage that may occur from natural disasters such as thunderstorms, floods or earthquakes. If you want to save yourself from the worse, the best thing to do is to be careful in the day to day, and know how to avoid electrical hazards, such as short circuits, fire and even material and personal damage.
To prevent these incidents, it is essential to plan the maintenance of the electrical installations. Likewise, one must think and review carefully the correct health and safety procedures to follow. Here are some of the most important tips when working with electricity:

Privilege security

Before starting any work, you must go to the place where the electricity distribution box is located, normally called "load center". In these boxes are the thermomagnetic or differential switches that protect the circuits of the house. Once this box is located, you must proceed to '' turn off '' those switches, so that electrical power cannot circulate through the wires of the house. Some houses do not have a load center, in those cases, we must disconnect the main switch, which is usually on a low wall in front of the house.

Avoid excessive use of extensions

It is not advisable to abuse this resource since it is the most common cause of short circuit due to heating. The same applies to the use of multi contacts since they can generate an overload. It is advisable to use a contact for each application. In this regard, it must be borne in mind that temporary electrical installations can cause electric shock and fire.

Respects the separation of lighting circuits and special outputs

As the overloads are so dangerous, the lighting circuits and the special output circuits in the houses are separated. Do not try to connect, for example, an air conditioner to the common circuit of the house. It must have its own circuit due to the higher load it needs.

Always work without electrical energy

Even when we have to change a lamp we must be careful, disconnecting the plug from the contact, replace the lamp and then try again.

Keep the artefacts in perfect condition

Never use appliances with bare wires, broken ends, damaged plugs or damaged lamp holders.

Beware of the presence of water and electricity

This combination means that both the kitchen and the bathroom are dangerous areas for using electrical appliances. In the bathroom, the use of the hairdryer is dangerous. Also, being barefoot in critical areas, such as the kitchen, near the refrigerator or electric ovens or microwaves, carries an unnecessary risk. This is equally applicable when manipulating extensions in the house. You have to put on shoes and dry your hands well before starting the task. And, of course, do not touch electrical equipment in the shower or during an immersion bath. To avoid the risk of electrocutions in damp areas of homes, the regulations of several countries have made the use of ground fault circuit interrupters (GFCI) mandatory.

Disconnect the appliances correctly

Finally, never disconnect an electrical equipment (vacuum cleaners, lamps, among others) pulling the cable, since there is a risk of detaching the ends of the cord and producing shorts.

Through these tips. The work in small electrical repairs will make your installation more efficient and the security of the home regarding the use of electricity will keep the family safe from accidents.

13 Home Plans You Should See Before Designing Your Home

To contribute a little bit with your inspiration, if you are planning the construction of your new home, if you do not know how to explain to the  architect what you want or simply because you are collecting ideas for when you specify your dream.
We all know the architectural plans, but sometimes it becomes difficult to understand them: the architects and engineers fill them with data and numbers, with symbols that only they understand and what we think is a cover can be only the level where the measurements are indicated of the land. So nothing better than observing a raised plane, as if the house was built to a certain level, to know how the walls are being moved, where the doors are, what the corridors are and what the rooms would look like.

We invite you to continue and surprise yourself.

1. A House In Detail

This house is on two floors and in this image we show you the first one. Each element, structure and furniture is careful to detail and has been thought of everything: a room for visitors, a family room, dining room, kitchen, stairs, a bedroom, garage and garden.

2. First Floor With Bedrooms

The upper floor is beautiful. It has three bedrooms, bathrooms, a terrace and many details in wood. This element makes it a project that promises a lot of charm and warmth.

3. Small And Functional

This little house is very small but has everything you need to live comfortably: it has a dining room and kitchen sharing the space with a living room, a niche for television, even a terrace to share! The private area is kept away from the view of the visits, two full bathrooms and two bedrooms complement the distribution.

4. When There Is Enough Space

This house is directly entered into a large social area, with a nice room and an elegant dining room, and then leads to the semi-private area, which overlooks the kitchen with a large dining room, a small family room and the lobby towards the stairs.

5. The Distribution Of The Social Area

In this image we can see how certain areas are privatised and separated by means of light elements. The first case is to enter, we are located in a hall that separates us from the room through a bookseller, maintaining some privacy. The other is the lattice that separates the room from the distribution of the bedrooms and bathroom, creating a corridor in the center and generating intimacy in that area.

6. An Apartment That Takes Advantage Of The Best Distribution

In this house, the main entrance does not lead us to the room, but it leads us through a corridor through which we cross the bedrooms and the bathrooms, to finally reach the living room, the dining room and the kitchen, always having as background a beautiful terrace on the other side of the window.

7. A More Open Distribution

In this case, we also go to the social area through a corridor, but the arrival is almost immediate, and the large room opens to the center of the building, distributing the bedrooms to one side and ending with a shared terrace between the room and the main bedroom

8. Wide Space

This residential and commercial properties covering Essex presents a much more proportionate distribution, wide and open. After crossing the door you will reach a large room where the kitchen, living room and dining room are located, leading to a small private terrace. It only has one bedroom and one bathroom, but they are large and quite well-organised.

9. Playing With Spaces

This house has a master bedroom with its own bathroom and dressing room, a secondary bedroom and a cosy reception, a large room that shares the area with the dining room and kitchen.

10. Compact But Bright

In this residence, a corridor leads us to the shared room with the dining room and the kitchen, privatising the bedrooms and the bathroom, keeping the areas independent.

11. A Complicated Design

If you like to play with spaces and break angles, this design is great, daring and very attractive. Use cuts at 45 degrees to break the monotony of the four walls and, by means of a turn, a diagonal corridor brings us closer to the kitchen and the living room, while the bedrooms with their bathrooms and dressing rooms are distributed in angular spaces but very functional

12. A Simple View

On this floor we can see only the distribution of spaces, with all the freedom to decide what to designate in each one. The cabinets and bathrooms are easy to identify, now it's up to you to decide where to put the master bedroom.

13. A Beautiful Facade

And finally, we say goodbye with the 3D view of a facade, so that you put face to the design you have chosen. Remember that the volumetry of the exterior depends on the interior layout, and the charm of the designer depends on the creativity of the designer.

Decoration Ideas: Basic Tips For Furnishing Your New Home

It is never easy to face an empty house, but with these tips you will get to enjoy decorating your home with your family. When we buy a house we face the hard task of furnishing it. We propose several ideas so that this moment that has to be of happiness does not turn into a nightmare.
First of all, do not be overwhelmed. The house does not have to have all the details ready at the moment of entering to live in her. It is a process that must be done in the medium term. The important thing is to have the kitchen furnished, part of the living room and part of what the bedrooms or your luxuriousbathrooms in Essex will be. The rest can wait. Involves the family. Each one has his little hobbies, his little whims and his own way of seeing space. Let everyone think, process the information..., and the decoration of your home will be a success.

Step 1. Collect information and file ideas. Forget about the traditional method; that happens by trimming photos and keep them without order in folders, because it does not work. How about building an album of ideas here where you can then be inspired to decorate your home?

Step 2. Define which style is the one you like the most or the one you feel most comfortable with. The most normal thing is that you do not identify with a specific style, but you like certain aspects of different styles. Nothing happens! Archive all those ideas on your computer. They will be a good starting point to start decorating your new home.

Step 3. If you have already selected several images of that style that you like so much, it is time to look again one by one and analyze if that decoration can be moved to your home. This is the time to sit down and think.

Step 4. Define a budget. If you already have a little clearer what you want, it is time to analyze how much money you will allocate to the furniture or to the reform, in case it is necessary.

Step 5. Hands to work. It's time to draw a plane. It is a difficult but necessary step, since taking measures is the only way to know that everything we are thinking about buying will fit without any problem. With this step we avoid last minute surprises, either because we do not enter everything we have bought, or on the contrary, we should be cautious and the result should be too empty.

Step 6. Once we have the style, the ideas, the budget and the distributed space, it is time to decide the color palette for the walls, the ceiling and the furniture. For the roof it is advisable to always use white. It is on the walls where we can play with different tones and textures. Generally, we think of painting, but if we look for something different we can also think, for example, of putting wallpaper or vinyl.

Step 7. We go shopping! This is the most complicated step, since there are many options in the market. One of them, and increasingly interesting, is doing it online. It is comfortable. To the reticent... Have you ever touched the countertop in your kitchen before it was installed? And the lamps? In any case, it is always better to sin by default than by excess, that is, it is better at first to buy the basics, the essential pieces, and, with the passage of time, you will be completing the furniture.

Step 8. The complements are in charge of giving the final touch to our decoration. They will make the spaces warmer and more welcoming. When we talk about accessories, we refer to curtains, cushions, carpets, paintings, vases, photographs... Everything necessary to make the decoration less cold and much more personal.

Tips to Prevent a Plumbing Emergency

There is nothing worse than suffering from a plumbing emergency, especially when it is out of hours. These emergencies can cause a lot of hassle and be extremely costly to fix but you may be able to avoid the emergency by carrying out routine maintenance on your plumbing and being careful. Otherwise, you will need to enlist the help of an emergency plumber like First Call Plumbing.

Ensure the Drains are Maintained

One of the most common plumbing emergencies are blocked drains which cause water to overflow, or even worse, sewage to back up and flow out into the house or garden. These emergencies are largely preventable by taking proper care and doing maintenance on your drains. Do not allow grease, oil, hair, food or other debris to go down the drains. Throw out the grease, and use strainers or traps to catch the other stuff. Only ever flush toilet paper – nothing else should go down the drain. Also, make sure that tree roots are kept under control and away from plumbing. If you’re planting new trees, choose ones that don’t have invasive root systems and keep them as far away from pipes as possible.
If you like you can use one of the common drain cleaners that are available in stores periodically to ensure that your drains are kept in top condition. You should only have to do this once or twice a year but make sure you follow the instructions on the container.

Check All Leaks

You might think that it is only a tiny leak, but you’d be surprised at how a small leak can turn into a big problem. The leak might only be because of a worn washer but if you have a loose or leaking pipe, fixing the leak while it’s small will save you from the worst-case scenario of the pipe becoming totally loose and gushing water everywhere.
Also, have your place checked regularly by a plumber for hidden leaks as much of the domestic and commercial plumbing and heatingsystems is on the walls and floors where you cannot see. We employ leak detection technologies that can pick up those small hidden leaks that you’d otherwise never know about and you can get the problem fixed while it is still small.
If you do see a damp spot, get it checked straightaway before the leak turns into a flood!

Find out the Pipe Runs

If you are doing any digging, drilling or renovation work that is likely to take you near water pipes, always make sure that you know exactly where those pipes are so that you don’t cut into or damage them, resulting in you having to call a plumber to fix the problem that you’ve created. You may find that your house plans outline where plumbing runs. If you are at all unsure, it’s a good idea to check.

Know Where to Turn the Water Off

Knowing how to turn off the water supply to your home is vital if the worst unexpectedly occurs and a pipe breaks. The quicker you turn off the water, the less damage will be done not only to your home but also to the plumbing. Turning the water off quickly may mean that your plumber does not have to do such an extensive repair job.

How To Check The Home Electrical Installation

To maintain your electrical installation in perfect conditions it is necessary to check the plugs periodically. When one of them gives problems, it is advisable to fix it as soon as possible. In this post, we explain how to change a plugging step by step, as well as the safety parameters and necessary material.

Material To Change A Plug

A flathead screwdriver will be the only tool needed to change a plug. There is a wide variety of screwdrivers in the market, but in the case of the plug, you only need the best-known one. According to your preferences, you can use a manual or electric screwdriver.

New Plug
Before starting to remove the broken plug, have the mechanism to replace it by hand. In addition to the plug, you must acquire the base of the plug and frame that will accompany it. To choose the new plug, value the design and aesthetics of the article. It is also important that it matches the size and proportions of the mechanism that will replace it.

Although there are multiple models on the market (glass, wood, striped, metallic plugs...), remember that all the mechanisms work exactly the same. Next, to the plug, remember to acquire a new base for the plug you are going to install and everything will be ready for the installation to begin.

Step-By-Step Plug Installation
When changing the old mechanism for the new one, the first step is to close the general house light to avoid any risk of electric shock. Therefore, it is necessary to make the change during the day to have the necessary visibility thanks to sunlight.

Below we detail the steps to follow for the installation;

1. Remove the frame from the old plug. This piece is fixed under pressure and its extraction is done in the same way. You can insert the tip of the screwdriver between the frame of the plug and the wall to pry.

2. Unscrew the old plug and cover. First, unscrew the central cover, which is the plug itself. Normally it is provided with a screw in the center that you must unscrew. Next, remove the mechanism where the lid is embedded. This usually has two screws on the sides, one on the left and one on the right, which are usually hooked directly to the universal box. When you loosen the screws, you will see that the mechanism is already hanging outside the wall and with the cables on.

3. Disconnect the cables.  To disconnect the cables, pay attention to the connection system. The trimmers are small levers are placed by the back of the mechanism, in the area where the cable is connected. To release the mechanism, you must squeeze these levers and this pressure will cause the cable to come out. This operation should be repeated with the three cables, two above and one below, which are differentiated by colours:
  •  Phase: is the blue or black cable, is on the top.
  •  Neutral: it is the brown cable and it is also at the top.
  •  Earthing: this is the green and yellow cable that is located in the lower part.

4. Connect the cables to the new mechanism.  Have both parts of the new plug at hand: the loose mechanism and the frame. Take the mechanism first to connect it to the cables. You must place two cables on top and one on the bottom:
  • The blue/black cable is inserted into the hole marked with the letter L line.
  • The brown wire is inserted in the letter N of neutral.
  • The green and yellow wire are inserted in the lower hole.

To insert the cables, the procedure is simple: insert the cable into the remaining gap, release the lever and check that it has been properly secured. When making the change, make sure there is no loose copper wire. (You always need a reliable electrician, so make sure you reach them before something goes wrong)

5. Insert the mechanism in the flush-mounted box. To fit the mechanism, insert the mechanism into the hole in the wall making sure that the long cables are bent at the back. Check that the cables have been left inside and no cables are left.

6. Screw the new mechanism. Once the mechanism has been fitted, you must put back the screws on the sides of the universal box. Normally this one has two small holes in each of its ends, which is where the screws should be fitted.

7. Place the frame and lid, if you prefer to use a trim. Once the mechanism is installed, only the plug cover and its corresponding frame need to be replaced.

9 Small Bathrooms But Super Elegant (To Copy Many Ideas)
If you are looking for ideas for small bathrooms these proposals help you maximise the space in a super functional way. With custom furniture, modern coatings, and functional accessories, these designs stand out for their elegance and comfort. Which one do you like the most?

1. Brown Walls
A thousand shades of light offered by the walls in our view only increase the aesthetic value of this proposal; if you look at the walls of the bathroom, they are covered, from floor to ceiling, with small rectangular tiles, with an irregular and rough surface. As a result, these characteristics are tonal successes that make this bathroom installation in Essex unique. Finally, to maximise these qualities, our professionals have installed lighting with powerful spotlights scattered on the roof.

2. Gleaming Details
To give small reflections to your bathroom, especially if it has neutral and delicate colours, you can choose a thin band of micro tiles, along with the walls of the bathroom and the average height. The image shows exactly a bathroom with a neutral colour for the walls and with a strip of tiles that capture the attention visually adding a bit of character.

3. With Romantic Notes
White, gleaming, this bathroom stands out for its romantic notes. We see them in the chosen furniture and in the frame of the mirror. Finally, light tones illuminate this small space and make it a little wider.

4. Sand And Chocolate
The combination of neutral colours such as chocolate and sand can show us some surprises, as in this example of the bathroom with the bath, whose colours alternate in a balanced way, thus avoiding the dark effect.

5. With Small Plants
If you have a corner in your bathroom, you can choose some plants to give your space an energy that, hard, you could get with the classic decorations. In fact, plants have the power to make the environment much more livable and aesthetically pleasing.

6. Bright Black
This bathroom is based on a strong contrast between black walls, with thin white strips, and the white part of the sanitary fittings and the ceiling. An extremely modern and masculine bathroom, very interesting different from the usual.

7. Textured
The bathtub isolated and steps from the gray pearl wall makes this bath unique and relaxing. The wall has bricks of the irregular surface, which capture the attention as soon as they enter the environment. A contrast between colours and surfaces very interesting.

8. White And Wood
The particular contrast in this bathroom is great. The wood and the white colour create a perfect atmosphere. Bright, clean. The details increase the feeling of being in a space of relaxation.

9. A Little Urban
In this bathroom, the urban style conferred by rectangular gray mosaic covers the walls and floors. To intercept this dark dominant shadow, we think of the white of the toilet, the furniture that holds the sink and the shelves. A bathroom that transmits symmetry and a good balance between white and gray.
